My Rating:
My Thoughts:
Just in a instance, our whole lives will change, and no matter what we do, we can never go back to the time before that instance. That's what Sarah Dessen expresses in her wonderful novel, Someone Like You.
Halley and Scarlett, have been best friends for years. Scarlett has always been there for Halley, giving her the support she needed. Now, it's Halley's turn to pay her back, on a Sisterhood camp, Halley gets a phone call from Scarlett. Scarlett's summer-long boyfriend, Mitchell died, in a car accident, and Scarlett is a wreck.
All Halley has to do is to give back what Scarlett has given her for all those years, but the loads get much heavier, as Scarlett carries Mitchell's baby. Now Halley has to take care of Scarlett, watch her mourn, and help her out, but at the same time she can't help but fall in love with Mitchell's naughty best friend, Mason.
Halley's life is falling apart, her parent's trust is fading away, she has to always take care of her best friend, and she can't give Mason what he wants most of all. But at one night, back from a party, as strange lights shine on Mason's face (literally!), everything changes for Halley.
You get to feel what Halley feels, watch her change her views, appreciate what she had for so long, and mature into a grown-up. Sarah Dessen has a very nice storytelling style, you will never get bored from. I totally felt for Halley, you can't help but fall in love with her.
But the end is very inspirational and surprising, will Halley work it out with Mason? and will Scarlett love happily with her baby? You can find that out if you read, Someone Like You...
My Recommendation:
Now, now, Sarah Dessen is a great storyteller. she makes you feel for the different characters in her novel. The plot is a really motivational story, I couldn't help but give it 5 hearts, it totally deserves it. I couldn't keep the tears from running down my face at the end. The pace not too fast but not too slow either, it's just right. And the characters are adorable, I just loved Scarlett and Halley. And if you're lucky enough, you will discover a whole side of yourself, you didn't know existed, when you read the motivational masterpiece, Someone Like You....
I love all of Sarah's books. I have read almost all of them, except this one, That Summer, Dreamland, and What Happened to Goodbye. I love the guys in her books. They're all AMAZING!
